BACKSTORY
Gemma's journey a decade ago led her to mindful habits and various tools that, when she contracted sepsis, she was able to use many of them in her recovery and living with a disability. Change didn't come from knowing what needed to change or how to do it but knowing that things had to change. One evening sitting with her journal open .......
Growing up, life came with a mix of turmoil and connection. Some may think that the two can't exist, but a change that didn't happen until her 30s was the seed of the creation of mindful brains. Gemma wanted to create safe spaces that allowed people to connect and thrive personally and professionally.
She created one question and a statement that would guide the rest of her life.
The question - what if I didn't know what I think I know?
The statement - the old way is no longer an option.
The statement and question have paved the way for her to working on improvement programmes, becoming a stoma brand advocate, sitting on various boards, being a coproduction team member for a mental health project and sitting on interview panels for the Metropolitan Police.
Gemma's aim is to use her professional practice and lived experience to empowers others and show that connection is how we connect. "Sometimes work and life are hard, but it's easier to do so with tools and techniques". - Gemma
